How do I keep my pool clean? How much chlorine do I add to my pool?
Keeping the pool clean is not that difficult. There must always be sufficient disinfectant (chlorine or peroxide) in the water. Chlorine decomposes faster when the pH is lower than 7,2. It is therefore important that the pH value is between 7,3 and 7,4.
Check the pH of the swimming pool at least weekly with the test kit or a pool lab. In variable and rainy weather, it's best to check twice a week.
Tips for pool maintenance:
Check the chlorine level with the test kit or the pool lab water tester. If the chlorine level is too low, add Quick Chlorine (ClorShock) to accelerate the chlorine level. After each addition of Snelchloor, wait at least 4 hours before rechecking the chlorine level. Also wait some time with swimming after adding Snelchloor.
Measuring pH
If the pH is not between 7,2 and 7,6, adjust the pH with pH minus or pH plus. After adding pH minus or pH plus, filter for 4 hours before checking the pH again.
Retain pH Values
If the pH and chlorine content are good, you want to keep it that way. Therefore, put a 200g chlorine tablet in the skimmer every three days. These large tablets dissolve gradually. Filter at least four times 2 hours a day, preferably spread over 24 hours. At temperatures below 20°C you may add less chlorine and filter less. At temperatures above 28°C you should filter more and add more chlorine.
