Install or repair EPDM yourself

What do I have to do to get the EPDM-tubes loose from the defect collector and put new ones on?

Cut the rubber loose with a Stanley knife. The rubber will be a few centimetres shorter, but because of its elasticity you will not notice it. You can also pull on each tube, one by one, to get the tubes loose.

Apparently I have to let the collector with tubes soak in gasoline? Is this correct? I donít have to use any glue?

That is correct. Let the ends of the rubber mat (5-10 cm) soak in gasoline or turpentine for 5 to 10 minutes. The rubber will swell. As a result, the collector can be placed easily. When the rubber is dry, it will shrink to its original volume. There is no glue needed.

I have a little hole in the EPDM. Do I have to replace a whole mat?

A little hole can be fixed by cutting the rubber tube in half at the level of the hole. By cutting the rubber tube in half, you can place a repair nipple inside to bridge the leak. Replacing the whole rubber band from collector to collector is of course a more durable solution.

How do I compose my EPDM myself?

1. Cut off the rubber mats to the desired length.
2. Let the ends of the rubber mat (5-10 cm) soak in gasoline or turpentine for 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Slide the collectors into the rubber mat and let it dry.
4. Follow the instructions on this page.
